Strada Alta - Trail Running

The route starts at the San Remo Sports Center of San Bernardino where you take the forest road that, passing through the San Remo Forest, leads to the shores of Lake d’Isola. After about 3 km from the start of the track, you reach the junction with the path that leads athletes towards the Pass di Passit. The trail climbs steadily inside the forest dominated by fir and larch trees. From Pass di Passit you can enjoy a nice view of the Mesolcina valley and the alpine ponds present in the area. With one last effort you reach the highest point of the route then start the descent towards Confin Basso passing at the foot of Motton (2154 m). For the more trained trail runners, it is possible to climb further to Alp de Confin (2286 m) before descending towards the upper station of the cable car. After a short climb begins the section of the route that proves to be “lively” and characterized by the presence of many boulders that make the run exciting and technical. After about 16.5 km of effort you reach the top of the San Bernardino Pass before starting the descent towards the village following the path that retraces the old Roman Road.
