The path to the chapels of the municipality of Vaz/Obervaz - variant 3

They are located in places such as cliff edges, on dangerous paths, or in remote hamlets to protect against misfortune and danger. They bear witness to the gratitude and contemplation of the local population.

On the east side of the Lenzerheide holiday region or the municipality of Vaz/Obervaz, you won't find chapels because the settlement originated from the main fractions Lain, Muldain, and Zorten, and large parts of the forest area belonged to the municipality of Lantsch/Lenz.

Various hikes lead past the different chapels.

The hike can be started on foot from Lenzerheide-Kanalweg-Lain (approx. 1 ½ hours) or by post bus from Lenzerheide – Lain. In Lain, there are various chapels to visit:

The path leads from the post bus stop Lain/Obervaz (Spar store) to the Maiensäss Creusen (approx. 1 hour walking time). In Creusen is the Chapel of Antonius. There is also a second chapel without a special name. The return walk takes the same hiking trail back to Lain/Obervaz.

From the post bus stop Lain/Trantamoira, walk about 15 minutes along the Voa Nova road back towards Lenzerheide. Right by the roadside is the Chapel La creusch dil Laresch. It was consecrated in summer 1991 with a tower and bell in honor of St. Antonius. After that, it is recommended to return to the post bus stop Lain/Trantamoira and then hike back to Lenzerheide via the Sporz-Crestasweg (approx. 2 hours) or Kanalweg-Clavadoiras (approx. 1 ½ hours).

Or extend the hike to the Maiensäss Creusen (see point 8 – approx. 1 ½ hours). 

Or from the post bus stop Lain/Obervaz, hike via Dal to Muldain (approx. 20 minutes). From there, the hike leads from the Junkerhaus via the old Schyn trail about 30 minutes to the Chapel Nossa Dona. It is one of the oldest buildings on the old Schyn trail. At the edge of the dangerous Schyn gorge, the shepherds prayed for safety on their way to work. It invites silent contemplation before descending the Schyn gorge (approx. 3 hours to Scharans) or returning to Muldain to take the post bus back to Lenzerheide.
