Beschreibung

From Thusis at the southern village exit on the local road over the old Nolla bridge and further towards Sils over the Rhine bridge (sidewalk). Shortly after the bridge, we have to cross the sometimes busy road, unfortunately without a pedestrian crossing (under the A13).

On the other side, we ascend according to the signpost to Hohenrätien to the junction Burg Ehrenfels and follow this path without major climbs past the castle to the Sils i.D. train station. Here on the station access road to Schynstrasse, along this a bit downhill and then along the field path to the beautifully located little church Sant Cassian, 733 m. Here along the forest edge or past Baldenstein Castle to the EW power station Nisellas, where we cross the Albula on a footbridge. We walk along the river to the road and on this first towards St. Agata, shortly before turning towards Scharans. Directly before the Clusabach, we go uphill on the driveway and cross the bridge at Pt. 794 to Scharans, 766 m. At the northern end of the village on the path that leads through beautiful meadows and orchards to the village Almens.

After walking through Almens, continue past the Canova castle ruins to the beautiful Canovasee, a popular excursion and bathing destination (private property, a fee is charged for swimming). Shortly before reaching the village of Paspels at Pt. 788, we go up the mountain road leading to Trans to Dusch, 870 m. Here a short detour to the chapel St. Maria Magdalena, attractively located on a wooded hill, is definitely worthwhile. Almost at the lower end of the village, a narrow road leads steeply down and joins the Domleschgerstrasse north of Ortenstein Castle. On this, over the bridge at Mulegns to the first junction and north towards the village of Rothenbrunnen.

As a variant, 300 m after the road junction, the footpath can be taken to the right towards the ruins Ob. Juvalta and thus shortly after the church to Rothenbrunnen. Return by PostBus or train from Rothenbrunnen.

Geheimtipp
