Val da Cam

Ascent through the Val Maroz to Alp Maroz Dent and from there southwards steeply up the slope into Val da Cam. In the idyllic little valley we pass the Lägh da Cam before we can enjoy the view of Bergell and the peaks opposite.

The view accompanies us during the traverse and the descent (around 1300 metres in altitude) to Soglio. In a restaurant in the village we enjoy a well-earned after-work beer or a hearty snack.

From Casaccia - car park at the small cemetery - follow the road that climbs in bends up through the forest to the entrance into Val Maroz. The footpath takes a more direct course and repeatedly intersects the road, with which it later reconnects on a more level part. Past the turnoff to the Septimer Pass and the huts of Maroz Dora (1799 m), the wide path leads to Maroz Dent (2035 m).
Here the trail descends a little and crosses the Maira stream on a wooden bridge. At the junction on the other side of the stream, follow the left path south up the slope. After the saddle, which is marked with several stone cairns, the Val da Cam opens up. The path winds through the valley to Lägh da Cam.
The descent after the lake begins with a long traverse in a south-westerly direction before the trail descends relatively steeply the last 800 metres in altitude to Soglio.
