Beschreibung

Val Müstair lies in the southeasternmost corner of Graubünden and stretches between the Ofen Pass and the Italian Vinschgau. The challenging valley trail starts in Valchava. At Fuldera, the track leads through the forest and then further across the Palüds plain. Always along the picturesque Rombach, it goes to Tschierv. Entry is possible at Valchava, Fuldera, and Tschierv. The Tour de Ski, a multi-day cross-country skiing competition, regularly visits Val Müstair. For the especially hardy, the “Tour de Ski” trail offers the climax of a perfect cross-country skiing day at the end in Tschierv. The trail is particularly steep and demanding here.

  • By the Rhaetian Railway (from Chur, Landquart/Prättigau, or from Upper Engadin) hourly to Zernez station

  • Further by PostAuto (from Zernez or Mals) hourly to PostAuto stop Valchava, cumün

Anreise Information


  • From the north: via Landquart – Klosters by car shuttle through the Vereina tunnel (Selfranga - Sagliains). From Zernez on H28 into Val Müstair to Valchava (30 minutes drive from Vereina South portal).

  • From the east: via Reschen Pass (Nauders) on SS40 to Mals. From Mals on SS41 to the Swiss border at Müstair. From Müstair on H28 to Valchava.

The Biosfera Val Müstair Nature Park will receive the label "Park of national importance" from the federal government on May 12, 2020 for another ten years. Together with the Swiss National Park and parts of the municipality of Scuol, the Biosfera Val Müstair forms the first high alpine UNESCO biosphere reserve in Switzerland.

As part of the "cultivation battle" during the 2nd World War the flood plain was drained and the Rom river was made into a canal. Between 2004 and 2007 the stream was restored. Now it ripples softly through the landscape.
