Beschreibung

Day 1: For the first part of the hike we are on the trail with hikers heading towards Lake Toma and Maighelshütte. Along the way in Val Maighels we enjoy numerous natural beauties. In Plidutscha, the Rhine trickles down as a small brook, in the lakes Lai Urlaun and Lai Carin the mountains are reflected, meandering watercourses are decorated with flowers and cotton grass, and at Piogn Crap we dare a single step over the Rein da Maighels, which squeezes through a narrow crevice in the rock here. On the plain Grava we expand the large cairn colony with another specimen. Before the pass summit, the vegetation becomes ever sparser. Until far into July, firn lies on the slopes and small turquoise lakes form in the hollows. At Passo Bornengo we have reached the cantonal border: Benvenuti in Ticino! We now leisurely descend about 200 meters in altitude down to Pian Bornengo, and then back up to the Capanna Cadlimo.

Day 2: Along the hut trail through Val Cadlimo and along the Reno di Medel, we hike downhill. We take our time, as Val Cadlimo also offers a lot in terms of nature with its wetlands, small lakes and lively brook. Upon reaching the Santa Maria reservoir lake, we finish the route on a road to the hospice.

Geheimtipp

Near the hut there are two more small lakes, ideal for a walk before or after dinner. And watch out - we are in an ibex territory!

Sicherheitshinweis

Until July, snowfields can be found on the north side of Passo Bornengo. Steep descent to Pian Bornengo.

Ausrüstung

Hiking equipment for all weather conditions. The Passo Bornengo is also a weather boundary. (North/South)

Wegbeschreibung

From the Oberalp Pass we follow the signposted hiking trail towards Maighelshütte. We always stay on the hiking trail, which leads southwards in the valley up to the Passo Bornengo. This is followed by a steep descent. In Pian Bornengo we follow the path on the left uphill to the Cadlimo Hut. Also signposted. From the hut there is a direct trail to the Lukmanier Pass. Return to the starting point by PostBus to Disentis and by train to Oberalp Pass.
