Continuing from Grauberg, the trail leads to the Lower Segnesboden, a unique high-altitude plateau marked by meandering alpine streams and fascinating geological features. From there, the path climbs steadily beneath the towering Tschingelhörner, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Tectonic Arena Sardona". This part of the trail takes about two hours of steady ascent and leads up to the Segnes Pass.
At the summit of the Segnes Pass (2,627 m / 8,619 ft), you’re rewarded with panoramic views over the Sernftal valley and the Glarus Alps. A small hut at the pass offers a welcome opportunity to rest and refresh, perhaps with a snack or a drink.
From the pass, begin your descent by traversing below the Atlas peak. The trail gradually winds across the mountainside toward La Siala, from where you enter the Upper Segnesboden – an expansive, open plateau featuring alpine moorland and the distinctive slate and stone formations typical of the area.
The final stretch of the hike brings you to the Segneshütte, a popular mountain hut known for its cozy atmosphere and regional food offerings. From here, you can choose to hike back to Flims on foot via well-marked trails, or take the cableway back down for a relaxing return.
