Beschreibung

No major ascents or descents, no technical difficulties, but lots of nature and views: the medium version of the Alpöhi Trail is a trail run to enjoy. Lake Wangs on the way and the views of the Rhine Valley and, on nice days, as far as Lake Constance are the main attractions of this trail. The trail also allows for spontaneous variations: If you want to dip your feet in the fresh Vilterser Seeli for a well-deserved cool-down, take the turn-off towards Lake Vilters. This is clearly visible and can be reached after 300 meters of walking and 111 m of ascent. Return the same way until you come back to the original route. This route can also be planned from Wangs (by cable car and chairlift to the Pizolhütte and from there in the direction of the Höhenweg/Wangsersee).

Geheimtipp

Trail running workshops are held on various dates on the Pizol. Accompanied by certified running guides and professional athletes.

Sicherheitshinweis

The trail is technically easy, but you need to pay extra attention when running in poor visibility or wet weather.

Ausrüstung

Normal trail running equipment (trail shoes recommended everywhere). Take enough food and drink with you (self-catering principle). Maps and cell phone with good reception.

Wegbeschreibung

From Bad Ragaz we take the cable car to Pardiel and then the chairlift to Laufböden. At the Laufbodenstübli restaurant is the hiking trail, which we follow in the direction of Höhenweg/Wangsersee. The well-maintained hiking trail is ideal for a run-in. At the Vilterser Seeli junction, we turn right towards the valley. This trail leads us downhill until we reach the markings above the lake, which point back towards Laufböden. From here, the trail continues steadily uphill on a somewhat wilder trail back to our starting point in Laufböden.

Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel

By train to Bad Ragaz, then by bus to the Pizol Bad Ragaz valley station.

Anreise Information

Take the highway exit Bad Ragaz, then follow the main road in the direction of Pizol Bad Ragaz.

Public parking available at the Bad Ragaz valley station.
