Beschreibung

No big ascents or descents, no technical difficulties, but plenty of nature and views: the medium variant of the Alpöhi Trail is a trail run to enjoy. Especially the Wangsersee en route and the views into the Rhine Valley and on clear days as far as Lake Constance are the highlights of this trail. The trail also allows spontaneous variants: those who want to stretch their feet into the fresh Vilterser Seeli and thus get a well-deserved cooling can take the junction towards Vilterser See. This is easy to see, reachable after 300 running meters and 111 m elevation gain. The same way leads back until you return to the original route. This route can also be planned from Wangs (with gondola and chairlift up to the Pizol hut and from there in the direction of Höhenweg/Wangsersee).

Geheimtipp

Trailrunning workshops take place at Pizol on various dates, accompanied by certified running guides and professional athletes.

Sicherheitshinweis

Technically, the trail is easy; increased attention is advised when running in poor visibility or wet weather.

Ausrüstung

Normal trailrunning equipment (trail running shoes recommended everywhere). Bring enough food and drink (self-catering principle). Maps and mobile phone with good reception.

Wegbeschreibung

From Bad Ragaz, we take the gondola to Pardiel and then continue with the chairlift to Laufböden. At the Laufbodenstübli restaurant, the hiking trail begins, which we follow in the direction of Höhenweg/Wangsersee. The well-developed hiking trail is perfect for warming up. At the Vilterser Seeli junction, we turn right towards the valley. This trail leads us downhill until we reach the sign above the lake, which points back towards Laufböden. From now on, the trail becomes a bit wilder and steadily leads uphill back to our starting point at Laufböden.
