Circular hike Maloja - Lägh da Bitabergh - Lägh da Cavloc

The ascent leads from the Maloja Orden parking lot via the Orlegna dam. From here you can take either the smuggler path "Capel", which is very popular with children, or the "normal" path through a bright larch forest to Lägh da Bitabergh. After a refreshment at the lake, we follow the signposts towards Lägh da Cavloc and, after some ups and downs, slowly climb the 50 meters in altitude to the highest point of the hike.
Soon we see Lägh da Cavloc with the Pizzi dei Rossi in the background. Whether we go left or right at the fork by the lake does not matter – both paths lead around the lake and meet on the opposite side at the small Ristorante Cavloccio. Along the lake there are also some official fire pits with firewood.

On the way back to Maloja we follow the drive road past the Salecina education center back to Maloja Orden.

About 200 m south of the lake is Alp da Cavloc, a goat alp with direct sale of the typical Bergell mascarpels and other cheese specialties.

It starts from the last hairpin bend of the Maloja Pass and follows the road until you reach a large parking lot. On the corner of the square begins a path that bends to the right and heads to the dam of the artificial basin of Orlegna. Follow the top of the wall and, having reached the opposite side, turn right entering a coniferous forest. Soon you come to an edge beyond which appears the pond of Bitabergh. Go around it to the right and continue leaving the pond behind. Reached the nearby junction with signs, continue to the left along a flat path that remains near a slight depression. A short descent then leads to the shores of the enchanting Lake Cavlocc. Between the two possibilities it is preferable to follow the path that goes around the banks to the right, finally connecting with a small road at a pretty refreshment point. Following the wide road downhill, you return to Maloja.
