Dörferweg Schanfigg, 1st stage, Arosa-Langwies

This hike gently descends from Arosa via Litzirüti through the forest to Langwies. Along the way, a view of the legendary Langwieser Viaduct should not be missed.

The route starts at Arosa station and first leads you on an asphalted road to the Untersee. There starts the Dörferweg Schanfigg, which winds through the forest, along the Plessur River and the Rhätische Bahn railway line to Litzirüti. Catch a glimpse of the red Rhätische Bahn train along the way? The path then takes you through the Schanfigg to Litzirüti station and then down to the Plessur. Follow the signposts via Sonnenrüti to Langwies. The long meadow on which the church was built gave the village its name – locals still say they live on the "leng Wies" today. The 300-inhabitant village is the ideal place for cultural activities. In addition to the church, the world-famous Langwieser Viaduct, the Kulturhuus Schanfigg, and the village shop with local specialties are worth a visit.

The Kulturhuus Schanfigg is a cultural meeting place for locals and guests. The association preserves and promotes the original culture of Schanfigg in its traditional and contemporary forms. In addition, the Kulturhuus houses the Schanfigg cultural archive, the Raetica library of the Sprecher Jenins family, a lending library for Alpine literature, and an exchange library for children and families.
