Trail Tales: Ducanfurgga - am Ende der Zivilisation

No fence. No road. No house. Just a singletrail, in the middle of untouched nature. At the end of civilization, so to speak. The bike route over the Ducanfurgga leads through one of the last pieces of wilderness and is literally epic.

The route starts in Filisur and continues along the signposted mountain bike route (90 Graubünden Bike) to Bergün. It is easier, however, to take the train in Filisur and save yourself this ascent. Immediately behind the train station begins the climb to Stugl and from there to the residential area Runsolas. The ascent on the alpine road through the Val da Stugl is initially very steep, but then becomes increasingly flatter. In the idyllic high valley, you feel like you are somewhere in Alaska. Pine and larch forests break through the alpine meadows, and through the middle flows an untamed mountain stream. Meanwhile, the ascent transitions to a singletrail, which is initially quite rideable. Then it becomes steeper, and the last 400 vertical meters to the Ducanfurgga, the bike must be pushed or carried. The scenery at the high-alpine appearing pass is top-notch – as is the singletrail down into the Ducan valley. The super trail ends in Sertig, from where the return journey to Filisur begins. This goes via the world-famous Landwasser Epic Trail (Alps Trail Davos). On the singletrail you ride from Sertig up to Äbirügg (Rinerhorn) and then stay always on the high-altitude path that leads to Hauderalp. After a short descent, you reach Monstein, followed by a 200-meter ascent until a world-class trail leads to Jenisberg. Shortly after, you reach Wiesen train station and then always follow the Landwasser river to the Landwasser viaduct. You roll back to Filisur on the main road.

By the way: At the Wiesen train station is the famous bridge from the video "Home of Trails," where Danny MacAskill balances on the retaining wall over a roughly 84 meter deep abyss.
