Beschreibung

Alpine passes, flowing single trails, fast descents, lonely valleys, pure nature, and past the highest Swiss stone pine forest in Europe. All this awaits you on the National Park Bike Tour around the over 100-year-old Swiss National Park. The route follows the official Schweiz-Mobil route no. 444 and is signposted.

Before or after the route, it is recommended to visit the mineral spa Bogn Engiadina in Scuol.

Snowfields are possible at high altitudes even into the summer months.

The route was rated under favorable weather conditions; the current weather conditions and forecasts must be strictly observed before setting out. This route does not place any special demands on riding safety and technical skill.

Be considerate when passing and overtaking pedestrians.

The Graubünden mountain bike routes largely run on single trails that are also marked as hiking trails. Pedestrians always have the right of way.

Ausrüstung

Helmet, gloves, good footwear, glasses, rain and sun protection, water bottle, repair kit, first aid kit.

Wegbeschreibung

Stage 1:

From Scuol the route leads up the Val S-Charl to the Pass da Costainas. Then down into the Val Müstair to the hamlet Lü. Afterwards, a loop to Müstair and on the opposite valley side to Tschierv follows.

Stage 2:

From Tschierv along the Val Vau to the Passo de Fraele. There follows a loop around the Lago di San Giacomo, then the ascent to Alpisella and subsequently the descent to Lago di Livigno.

Stage 3: 

The route first leads to the Rifugio Casanna and over the Pass Chaschauna. The ascent is very steep (sections to push the bike), and the initial descent offers a very difficult single trail. The subsequent descent from Alp Chaschauna to S-chanf makes you forget the effort.

Stage 4: 

From Zuoz ride toward Zernez. The route passes through various Lower Engadin villages back to Scuol.

  • By Rhaetian Railway (from Chur, Landquart/Prättigau or from Upper Engadin) hourly to Scuol-Tarasp 
  • By PostBus (from Martina, Sent, Ftan or Tarasp) hourly to Scuol-Tarasp station

Anreise Information

  • From the north: via Landquart – Klosters by car shuttle through the Vereina tunnel (Selfranga – Sagliains) or via the Flüela pass to the Lower Engadin on H27
  • From the east: via Landeck / Austria in the direction of St. Moritz on H27
  • From the south: via Reschen pass (Nauders-Martina) or Ofen pass (Val Müstair-Zernez) on H27

Scuol is located directly on the Engadin road H27 (20 minutes driving time from Vereina south portal)
