Piz Avat

By car, we drive to Siltginas, above Sogn Benedetg, and look for a parking spot there. Along the wildlife quiet zone and on the summer path, we set off to the  Alp Crap Ner Sut, which is idyllically in winter sleep. Here, a first break is possible, although we have not yet completed half the ascent. Below the Plaun Schigels, we continue to climb into a wide hollow that guides our direction and right past the Fuorcla Crap Ner. After one last flatter section, we need to mobilize our strength again because it gets quite steep until we reach the ski depot. Over an airy ridge, we go to the summit, with summit cross and a 360-degree mountain panorama. The view down into the Surselva remains denied to us, as we have caught one of the rare days with high fog. We pass the time with the Peak Finder on our smartphones since such a large selection of snow-covered peaks around is not often available. 

The descent runs over the Alp Glivers Dadens Sut. A pleasure, whether powder snow or slush.

From Sumvitg to Sogn Benedetg and turn left towards Siltginas at the Miraval restaurant. At the western edge of the wildlife quiet zone, we climb up to the Alp Crap Ner Sut, turn right here and bypass the Plaun Schigels on the south side. Over point 2071 we reach a wide hollow that leads us to the foot of Piz Avat. Ascent in some steep hairpin bends to the ski depot and on foot to the summit cross.
