From Vrin, you walk along a field path, first through lush meadows, then through a species-rich mixed forest down to the Glogn river. At the bridge, a narrow hiking trail leads up to the former Surin mill (39). Return to the bridge and walk towards Surin. Around 300 m west of the village is a strikingly flattened hill called Crestaulta (40). Excavations have revealed a Bronze Age settlement. The hike continues through Surin, Pruastg Dadens and Pruastg Dado. Above Pruastg Dado, the hiking trail leads over the new suspension bridge to Silgin. In Silgin you can visit the Caplutta da Sogn Bistgaun (41).
From Silgin, you have the option of continuing the hike in the direction of Surcasti/Uors or returning to Lumbrein via the covered wooden bridge at the bottom of the valley.
39 The mill, the remains of whose walls are still visible today, was built at the beginning of the 17th century. Research shows that it was in operation from around 1670 to 1941.
40 The Crestaulta settlement was continuously inhabited between 2000 and 1200 BC and is considered to be one of the oldest in the inner Alpine region. The fascinating finds are exhibited in the Rhaetian Museum in Chur. Various mutations point to a cult and execution site with decomposing values. Clairvoyant people feel uncomfortable in this place and sense the draining forces.
41 The Sogn Bistgaun chapel was consecrated in 1643. A predecessor building from the 16th century is more than likely. It is assumed that a building already existed around 1500. The mutations result in high, but unbalanced and disharmonious values.
In collaboration with Lumnezia Turissem, the Swiss Places of Power research center has tested 66 special places in the region and documented them in 12 hiking routes. Information on the routes can be found in the book “Places of Magic”, which is available from the Vella information office.
