Beschreibung

At high altitude, the air of Valposchiavo on sunny days often appears dazzlingly clear. It is the southern light that makes the landscape shine. San Romerio is nestled on a promontory overlooking Lake Poschiavo. Benches with a lake view invite you to take a break; in the adjacent refreshment point, you can recover with food and drinks. This enchanting place can be reached by a long hike. The ascent is initially easy, then becomes increasingly steep and winds through spruce and larch forests. Above the forest, the view suddenly opens to Valposchiavo and the nearby Valtellina. During the descent towards the village of Viano, you enjoy splendid panoramas. Until the 1970s, Viano was an important place for smuggling sugar, coffee, and tobacco.

Geheimtipp

The innkeeper of the San Romerio Refreshment Point sells his own cheese and serves salads and vegetables grown in his garden.
