Oberalp Pass: The Oberalp Pass - called "Alpsu" in the Romansh language - is the connection between Disentis in the canton of Graubünden and Andermatt in the canton of Uri. The highest point of the pass road is at 2,044 m above sea level. The pass road measures a length of 32 kilometres from Disentis to Andermatt.  In the Middle Ages, the pass gave the people of Graubünden access to the pig and goat markets in the cantons of Uri and Ticino.

With the construction of today's road in 1862/63, traffic over the Oberalp experienced a great revival. The stagecoach romance emerged. The carriages did not disappear until 1925, when the automobile was introduced in Graubünden. The road is only passable during the summer.

Lai da Tuma/Lake Toma: The 1,230-kilometre journey of the Rhine begins at the source of the Rhine. Much of what happens here has an influence on its course. That is why the inhabitants of the municipality of Tujetsch - on whose soil the source of the Rhine is located - take care of their natural wonder. The mighty Anterior Rhine glacier covered the entire Surselva during the last ice age. The mountain landscape of the Oberalp Pass, formed by glaciers, is the headwaters of the Anterior Rhine. The ice stream has long since melted, leaving behind a firn hollow in which the Lai da Tuma, at the foot of the Piz Badus, is embedded. A jewel among the Swiss mountain lakes at 2,345 m above sea level - unique in its beauty, magic and importance.

Wegbeschreibung

The hiking trail is signposted in white and red: mountain hiking trail, trekking scale, T2

At the beginning of the tour, we hike 10 minutes downhill along the pass road. We cross a small stream and now follow the high-altitude trail southwards into Val Maighels. At point 2056 we turn right and zigzag up. First we hike over alpine meadows, a little later the path becomes steeper and stony. As soon as we have the last hairpin bends behind us, we reach the lake. The way back follows the same route.
