Beschreibung

From the village of San Bernardino, you reach the Acubona area and continue towards Alpe Pian Doss. Shortly before the Alp, on the left, starts the trail which in about 2 hours leads to the Bocchetta de Curciusa. This route is recommended for somewhat experienced hikers, especially for the initial section leading to the Bocchetta de Curciusa at 2420m, where the slope is quite steep and may pose some difficulties. From the Bocchetta de Curciusa, leaving the small lake behind, you descend towards the valley, first reaching Curciusa alta and then Curciusa bassa, arriving after about 2 hours at Alp de Rog at 1812m. From the Alp, the trail mostly runs parallel to the Areua river, which flows down the valley floor and, exiting the valley, leads in about 1 hour to the small village of Nufenen at 1569m. A reservoir was planned in the Val Curciusa but was never realized. The valley now belongs to the protected areas of the Canton of Grisons.

At Alp de Rog the hike connects with the trail coming from San Bernardino through the Strecc de Vignun. As an alternative, you can choose this return route, although it is quite demanding due to the steep climb to the Strecc de Vignun. Another alternative is to continue through the Areuapass, reach Alpe Tambo, and then the village of Spluga.

Sicherheitshinweis

It is recommended to carry enough water for the hike. There is a fountain next to the Curciusa Refuge where you can refill.
