Sta. Maria

The route starts at the former train station of Grono. From there, climb towards the village center in the direction of Nadro. At the end of the village, take the dirt road on the right that leads to Nadro. From Nadro, the road becomes steeper and climbs with tight curves that pass by Castaneda. Once in Campagna, take the cantonal road back to Ronc. From Ronc, turn left onto the road and enter the beautiful forest that leads to Sta Maria in Calanca. From Sta Maria, the descent to Verdabbio begins with the dirt road that leads to Verdabbio to Cama. In Cama the descent ends and you have to cross the bridge over the Moesa. From there, continue along the east bank of the Moesa River and gently downhill along the Moesa River. On this stretch you can see Leggia on the other bank. Immediately after, you will cross the river and continue the tour on the west bank, first reaching Pascolet, an area where you can observe one of the few existing biotopes in Switzerland. As the tour progresses, you will finally reach the starting point.
