On this easy circular hike, we experience most of the Palfries high plateau, which was settled by the free Walser people from the 14th to the 17th century. It is a varied circular hike. The outbound route to the mountain restaurant Stralrüfi leads over alpine pastureland and takes one hour and 15 minutes.

Beschreibung
We start the hike at the Palfries mountain station. With the Palfries cable car, we previously overcame about 1,250 meters of altitude in only 12 minutes. The cable car passes over an impressive waterfall (Ragnatscher Bach) and brings us up to the Palfries high plateau.
From the mountain station, we hike along the paved road to the mountain inn Palfries. The path turns right at the parking lot and steadily climbs towards Alvier. Both “In de Stei” and at the “Mürli” the hiking trail turns left. We now hike gently downhill towards the mountain restaurant Stralrüfi. Here, an impressive panorama awaits us of the surrounding mountain peaks and Lake Walen. The one-hour return route to the mountain station runs over a natural road suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.
Geheimtipp
On the return from the mountain restaurant Stralrüfi towards the mountain station, we find at the Althaus on Hinderpalfris the oldest residential building from the Walser period. Dendrochronological analysis showed that the building was constructed in 1409 or 1410. The historic building can be visited freely (key depot in the mountain inn Palfries).

Wegbeschreibung
From the mountain station, we hike 500 meters on the paved alpine road to the mountain inn Palfries. Immediately after the gravelled parking lot, we take the mountain path to the right towards Alvier. After about half an hour, we reach "in de Stei", where the path continues to the left. On the hike to the "Mürli", the alpine spring welcomes us with a variety of the most beautiful alpine flowers. There we branch left and initially hike more or less along the dry stone wall. After about half an hour, we reach the mountain restaurant Stralrüfi. The return route to the mountain station is hilly and leads over the gravelled natural road to the parking lot where we branched off at the beginning of the hike. The mountain station can be reached in a quarter of an hour from the mountain inn Palfries.
