Beschreibung

The suggested route leads via the Belvedere tower, which stands directly on the precipice down into the Bergell valley and offers a spectacular view of the valley. During the summer months, Pronatura presents exhibitions on the history of the Maloja landscape and changing current themes in the tower. A bit of landscape history can be admired "live" in the Swiss stone pine forest between Maloja and the tower - there are several well-preserved glacier mills here, which are a reminder of the glacial influence on the landscape.
Although the Malögin is quite steep, especially at the start, cart tracks have been carved into the rocky ground in some places - a sign that the path was probably used by carts in the past. Below the Maloja Pass, the path (now more comfortable) loops north past the ruins of the church of San Gaudenzio and then winds on to the "Torre" and down to Casaccia.

Geheimtipp

Wegbeschreibung

50 m south of the information point in Maloja, take the road to the Belvedere tower. The glacier mills are on the way and can be visited on several side paths. From the viewing point at the tower, a path leads along the foot of the rocks down to a marshy plateau. Here you continue to the right, along the watercourse and cross it. Follow the steep path down through the forest, over the torrent and onto the Cavril plateau.

Stay on the footpath, which initially runs parallel to the road and then loops north past the ruins of the church of San Guadenzio. Next, you cross another watercourse, called "la Canaleta", and follow a well-cut footpath across the steep meadows above the houses of Casaccia. At the end of the path, you reach the ruins of the ancient "Torre", from where you can see the tower of Maloja and the entire hike. A final short descent leads directly to the village center of Casaccia.
