Beschreibung
On the third stage, it goes back to the alp zone. From Safien Platz, the path steadily ascends into the valley towards Camanaboda and further to the Camaner huts. On the way, the typical Safien settlement landscape can be seen with residential houses, stables, hay barns and alpine huts – a distinctive feature of the Walser culture. After the Bächer Tobel the valley opens up, the landscape becomes wider but also rougher and more alpine.
Geheimtipp
Our tips for this stage of the Walserweg Safiental
Spensa - self-service shop: The Spensa - Safien word for pantry from the pre-refrigerator time - is always well stocked with products from the Safiental.
Camaner Hut: The alp buildings - hut, stupli and stable - stand in a row like beads on a string at an altitude of about 2,000 m above sea level and are witnesses of the formerly predominant agriculture. Each family had its own individual dairy on the huts, where cheese and butter were produced.
Exhibition stable Safier Ställe: The exhibition stable in Turra (at the PostAuto stop) impressively shows the importance of the Safier Ställe for the cultural landscape as well as their construction and use.
Along this stage runs also the Safiental Legend Trail. You can get to know various stories about the Wildmannli by audio or with the booklet of legends.
