Beschreibung

You start just before the small village of Sogn Benedetg and follow the trail across the Siltginas farm, later through a wooded area to Alp Crap Ner. The hut invites you to take a break in front of the sunny wooden façade. The terrain is now often steeper and more alpine. In poor visibility, orientation becomes more and more challenging. About 100 meters before the summit, a decently steep slope has to be overcome. But the near and far view is simply incredible up here.

Enjoy, strap on your skis and glide back down into the valley along the ascent track. The open slopes allow a few opportunities to play up to the alp. However, please be sure to note the large wildlife rest area in the forest "Uaul dils Brens".

This tour is only recommended in good visibility and avalanche conditions.

Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel

By train from Disentis or Ilanz to Sumvitg-Cumpadials (plus 230 metres in altitude from the train station to Sogn Benedetg).

Anreise Information

From Disentis or Ilanz to Sumvitg. At the end of the village (in the direction of Disentis), turn off to Sogn Benedetg (follow the signpost "Kirche Sogn Benedetg").

The chapel, which was designed by Peter Zumthor, is located a few hundred meters from the old site. The timber construction integrates elements of the local building style and is both traditional and very modern. The teardrop-shaped floor plan plays with natural geometric shapes, while inside, skylights and the abundance of wood lend the room a warm and light atmosphere.

Chapel Disentis Sedrun

Chapel ruin Sogn Benedetg, Sumvitg

The chapel ruin of Sogn Benedetg, with a horseshoe-shaped choir from the 9th century, is the oldest documented chapel of its kind. It was largely destroyed by a massive dust avalanche on February 10, 1984, and was restored again in 2013.
